Max Pre-Owned at Max Ford of Nevada

In Nevada, a used car comes with its inspection and its tier, in writing.

Mileage and age put every vehicle into Max Certified, Max Select or Max Budget. The badge tells you the inspection it passed and the coverage it carries before you ask.

Pre-qualification is a soft inquiry and does not affect your credit score; it is not an offer of credit. Pre-approval is a credit application reviewed by lenders.

Which Max tier is this vehicle?

Every pre-owned vehicle at Max Ford of Nevada earns one of three tiers based on mileage and age. Under 60,000 miles and under 5 years is Max Certified. 60,001 to 100,000 miles and under 6 years is Max Select. Over 100,000 miles is Max Budget. Max Coverage · limited cost-share warranty

What does Max Coverage actually pay for?

Max Coverage is a limited cost-share warranty backed by Max Motors, not a third-party contract. If a stated component fails inside the term, Max pays half the parts and labor at the Max rate and you pay half plus tax. EVs, hybrids, diesel trucks and European makes carry a 20% Max / 80% customer split. Repairs are done at a Max location; the term ends at the day or mile limit, whichever is first.

Max Certified covers

Engine5 covered
  • All internally lubricated parts: pistons, rings & pins, crankshaft & bearings, camshaft(s) & bearings, connecting rods, valves, valve springs & guides, lifters, pushrods, rocker arms, oil pump
  • Timing chain / timing belt, tensioners & guides, cam phasers (VVT actuators)
  • Engine block & cylinder heads (only when damaged by failure of a covered internal part)
  • Intake & exhaust manifolds, valve covers, oil pan, timing cover, harmonic balancer, flywheel / flexplate
  • Engine mounts, water pump, thermostat & housing

Why it matters: Cam phasers, timing chains, AFM/DFM lifters and internal water pumps are the big-ticket items on late-model V6/V8 and 4-cyl turbo engines.

Turbocharger / Supercharger1 covered
  • Turbo or supercharger housing & all internal parts, wastegate / bypass actuator, intercooler

Why it matters: Turbos are standard on most late-model trucks and SUVs (EcoBoost, GM 2.7T, Hurricane 2.0T) and are among the costliest single failures.

Transmission / Transaxle3 covered
  • All internal parts, torque converter, valve body & solenoids, transmission case (when damaged by a covered internal failure)
  • CVT internal components (belt/chain, pulleys) on CVT-equipped vehicles
  • Transfer case: all internal parts (4WD / AWD)

Why it matters: 8-, 9- and 10-speed automatics and CVTs are the single highest-cost repair category on newer vehicles.

Drive Axle3 covered
  • Front & rear differential: all internal parts, axle housings (when damaged by covered internal failure)
  • Axle shafts, CV joints & boots (when boot failure caused joint failure), driveshafts, U-joints, center support bearing
  • Wheel hubs & bearings
Steering2 covered
  • Steering gear / rack & pinion (including electric power steering rack & motor), steering column & shaft
  • Power steering pump, control valve, tie-rod ends, idler & pitman arms

Why it matters: Electric power-steering racks on late-model vehicles are sold as an assembly - a high-dollar repair.

Brakes (non-wear)2 covered
  • Master cylinder, vacuum / hydraulic booster, calipers, wheel cylinders, hydraulic lines & fittings
  • ABS hydraulic control unit & pump, ABS module, wheel-speed sensors

Why it matters: ABS modules / hydraulic units are one of the priciest non-powertrain electronic failures.

Air Conditioning & Heating2 covered
  • A/C compressor & clutch, condenser, evaporator, expansion valve / orifice tube, accumulator / receiver-drier
  • Blower motor, heater core, HVAC mode/blend door actuators

Why it matters: Variable-displacement compressors on newer vehicles are expensive and failure-prone.

Cooling1 covered
  • Radiator, cooling fan motor(s) & clutch, fan control module, coolant reservoir (pressurized)
Fuel System1 covered
  • High-pressure fuel pump (GDI), in-tank fuel pump & sending unit, fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator

Why it matters: GDI high-pressure pumps and injectors are a common, costly late-model failure.

Electrical3 covered
  • Alternator, starter motor & solenoid, voltage regulator, ignition switch
  • Engine control module (ECM/PCM), transmission control module (TCM), body control module (BCM)
  • Power window motors & regulators, power seat motors, power door-lock actuators, wiper motors, horn

Why it matters: Control modules plus required programming are a growing share of repair cost on newer vehicles.

Seals & Gaskets1 covered
  • Covered ONLY when replaced as part of a covered component repair (not as a stand-alone leak repair)

Max Select covers

  • Transfer case: all internal parts (4WD / AWD)
Drive Axle1 covered
  • Front & rear differential internal parts, axle shafts, CV joints, driveshafts & U-joints
Seals & Gaskets1 covered
  • Covered ONLY when replaced as part of a covered component repair

Not covered on either tier

Exclusions7 groups
  • Maintenance & wear items: brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, tires, wiper blades, bulbs, filters, fluids, belts & hoses, spark plugs, clutch assembly, shocks & struts, 12-volt battery
  • Body, paint, glass, trim, upholstery, weather-stripping, wheels, cosmetic items, rust/corrosion
  • Infotainment, audio, navigation, displays, cameras, driver-assist (ADAS) sensors & calibration, key fobs, software updates
  • Any condition noted on the vehicle's inspection report or disclosed at sale (pre-existing)
  • Damage from accident, abuse, neglect, overloading, racing/competition, modification, environmental causes, or lack of required maintenance
  • Repairs performed anywhere other than a Max Motors location; towing, rental, lodging, loss of use, consequential damage
  • Non-covered diagnosis time when no covered failure is found (free 30-day diagnosis still applies)

Who pays what on a covered repair?

Say a covered transmission repair bills $3,000 in parts and labor at the Max rate. On a Max Certified gas truck, Max pays $1,500 and you pay $1,500 plus tax. On a Max Certified diesel truck, Max pays $600 and you pay $2,400 plus tax. Same component, same term; the split is the only thing that changes. The repair amount here is an example, not a quote.

How to use it

  1. Call or text the Max Ford of Nevada desk at (417) 640-2813.
  2. Bring the vehicle to any Max Motors location, or ask about Max Transit pickup with advance notice.
  3. Diagnosis is free within the first 30 days. You get a written estimate showing Max's share and your share before any work starts.
  4. Repair is completed at Max. You pay your share plus applicable tax.
Max Budget · As-Is, explained

What does As-Is mean at Max, and what does Missouri law still require of us?

As-Is means exactly what it says: Max makes no dealer warranty on a Budget vehicle and repairs after the sale are yours. What As-Is does not do is cancel Missouri law. Max Ford of Nevada still safety-inspects the vehicle before sale, still passes you a properly assigned title, still posts the federal Buyers Guide on the glass, and still writes down what the inspection found.

Safety inspection before sale

Missouri requires a used vehicle that is subject to inspection to be fully inspected immediately before sale, at the seller's expense, with a new certificate issued, and selling "as is" does not waive that duty. Max goes further: every Budget vehicle is inspected to the Missouri State Safety Inspection standard regardless of model year or mileage, including vehicles the state exempts from biennial inspection.

Your inspection carries to registration

When you buy from a licensed dealer and the vehicle had a valid inspection within 60 days of purchase, Missouri lets you register using an inspection performed within 90 days of your application. Max Ford of Nevada hands you the certificate at delivery.

RSMo 307.350

Clean title at delivery

Missouri requires the certificate of ownership, properly assigned, to pass to you at delivery, or a written delayed-delivery agreement under which the dealer delivers the assigned title within 30 days. If a dealer misses that deadline, the buyer may void the sale.

RSMo 301.210.4 and 301.210.5

What "As-Is" legally means

Under Missouri's Uniform Commercial Code, "as is" or "with all faults" language excludes all implied warranties, including merchantability, when it is conspicuous and clearly understood by the buyer. That is why the As-Is acknowledgment on the Budget inspection sheet is plain, bold and initialed.

RSMo 400.2-316(2), (3)(a)

Federal Buyers Guide on the window

Every used vehicle at Max displays the FTC Buyers Guide before it is offered. Budget vehicles are marked "AS IS - NO DEALER WARRANTY." Certified and Select vehicles are marked "LIMITED WARRANTY" with the systems covered, the term, and the percentage of repair cost Max pays. The Buyers Guide becomes part of your contract and overrides anything in the contract that contradicts it.

16 CFR 455.2 and 455.3

No deception, no omission

The Missouri Merchandising Practices Act prohibits deception, false promises and concealment of a material fact in connection with a sale. Anything our inspection found is written on the Budget inspection sheet you receive, the odometer statement is in writing, and the CARFAX is included. Missouri's lemon law covers new vehicles only, so on a Budget vehicle the inspection, the CARFAX and your own mechanic are your protections. Use all three.

An As-Is price is an honest price for a vehicle we are not warranting. It is not a vehicle we are hiding. Want coverage anyway? Ask for a service contract quote before you sign, or step up to Max Select or Max Certified.

Straight answers

Max Pre-Owned questions, answered.

What is the difference between Max Certified, Max Select and Max Budget?

Mileage and age set the tier. Max Certified is a 182-point inspection with 60-day / 2,000-mile Max Coverage. Max Select is a 34-point inspection with 30-day / 1,000-mile powertrain coverage. Max Budget is Missouri safety-inspected and sold As-Is with no component coverage. Every tier includes a CARFAX report.

Is Max Coverage a warranty or a service contract?

Max Coverage is a limited cost-share warranty from Max Motors on stated components, not a third-party service contract. Max pays 50% of parts and labor on a covered repair and you pay 50%. On EVs, hybrids, diesel trucks and European makes, Max pays 20% and you pay 80%. Service contracts can be added at delivery.

What does cost-share mean on a covered repair?

Max and the customer split the retail parts and labor on a covered component at the Max rate. Example: a $3,000 covered transmission repair on a Certified vehicle is $1,500 from Max and $1,500 from you plus tax. The same repair on a Certified diesel truck is $600 from Max and $2,400 from you plus tax.

Why do EVs, hybrids, diesel trucks and European makes have a different split?

Battery systems, hybrid drive units, diesel emissions components and European parts pricing carry a much higher repair cost per failure. Rather than exclude those vehicles, Max Coverage includes them at a 20% Max / 80% customer share so the program stays honest and the tier badge means the same thing on every lot.

When does Max Coverage start and end?

Coverage begins on the delivery date at the odometer reading at delivery. It ends when either the day limit or the mile limit is reached, whichever comes first: 60 days or 2,000 miles for Certified, 30 days or 1,000 miles for Select.

Can I use Max Coverage at my own mechanic?

No. Covered repairs are performed only at a Max Motors location, and the vehicle must be present at a Max location for diagnosis. Diagnosis is free within the first 30 days. Max Transit can pick the vehicle up with advance notice.

What does As-Is mean on a Max Budget vehicle?

As-Is means Max makes no dealer warranty, express or implied, and you pay for any repair after the sale. It does not waive what Missouri law requires of the dealer: a safety inspection before sale, a properly assigned title, the federal Buyers Guide on the window, and honest disclosure of what the inspection found.

Does As-Is mean the Budget vehicle was never inspected?

No. Missouri requires a used vehicle subject to inspection to be fully inspected immediately before sale at the seller's expense (RSMo 307.380), and Max inspects every Budget vehicle to the Missouri State Safety Inspection standard regardless of model year or mileage. You receive the inspection sheet and the certificate.

Can I have my own mechanic look at a Budget vehicle before I buy it?

Yes. Own mechanic welcome on any Max pre-owned vehicle, and encouraged on a Budget vehicle. Bring the CARFAX and the Budget inspection sheet with you.

Can I add a service contract to a Select or Budget vehicle?

Yes. Max Select vehicles are service-contract upgrade eligible at delivery, and a service contract can be quoted on a Budget vehicle before you sign. Ask the finance manager for the options and the price in writing.

How do I get pre-approved or pre-qualified at Max?

Two doors. Pre-qualify first if you want a payment range with no impact on your credit score; it is a soft inquiry. Get pre-approved when you are ready to buy; that is the finance application, lenders respond in seconds, and it is a hard inquiry. Both work from your phone, and Max Transit delivers within 300 miles of Butler, Missouri free.

Which Max rooftop should I call about a specific vehicle?

Any of them. Max Ford of Richmond, Max Ford & CDJR of Butler, Max CDJR of Clinton, Max Ford & CDJR of Nevada and Max Chevrolet & GMC of Nevada share one pre-owned standard and one Max Coverage program. Call or text the rooftop closest to you and ask which tier the vehicle earned.

All benefits and programs, including limited-warranty coverage, apply only at Max Motors locations. Max Certified (60 days / 2,000 miles) and Max Select (30 days / 1,000 miles) are limited cost-share warranties on stated components only: Max Motors pays 50% of parts and labor on covered repairs and the customer pays 50%. For all electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid vehicles, diesel trucks and European makes, Max Motors pays 20% and the customer pays 80%. Vehicle must be present at a Max Motors location for diagnosis to redeem any benefit. Coverage ends at the day or mile limit, whichever comes first; see the Max Coverage summary for covered components, exclusions and terms - subject to make and model. Max Budget vehicles are sold As-Is with no dealer warranty, express or implied; the buyer will pay all costs for any repairs after sale. A valid Missouri safety inspection is required to title and register any vehicle; As-Is terms do not waive it. CARFAX® is a registered trademark of CARFAX, Inc.

Missouri safety inspection performed per RSMo 307.380; title assigned per RSMo 301.210; As-Is sale excludes implied warranties per RSMo 400.2-316; the FTC Buyers Guide (16 CFR Part 455) is part of every used-vehicle contract and controls over contrary terms. Pre-qualification is a soft inquiry and does not affect your credit score; it is not an offer of credit. Pre-approval is a credit application; final terms subject to lender approval. Same-day signing and delivery subject to lender funding, title and scheduling. Max Transit free within 300 miles of Butler, MO. Perks and allowances redeemed at Max Motors locations only.
